LAUNCHING LIGHTHOUSE TRADER FROM YOUR BROWSERTo launch Lighthouse Trader immediately, simply click on the “Launch” button above. This will automatically download, install, and run Lighthouse Trader on your PC. It’s free and it’s fully functional! If you have any questions or experience difficulty during this launch process, come back to this page and read the sections below. After Lighthouse Trader starts up for the first time on your PC, there are two additional steps you must take. Click on the following links for help with each step. You must agree to the terms and conditions before using Lighthouse Trader. You may also want to review the minimum system requirements. If you have a firewall running on your system you may see several popup windows during the launch process asking if you wish to permit various Java programs to run (eg. javaw.exe, javaws.exe, or “Java Platform Standard Edition”). Please permit these programs to run. They are necessary for Lighthouse Trader to function properly. Each time you tell your firewall to allow these programs to run, you may need to re-launch Lighthouse Trader in order to resume the installation process from the point where the firewall blocked it. Pop-up blockersIf your browser prevents pop-up windows and ActiveX controls, you will need to permit these pop-ups and ActiveX controls during the launch process. These items will have as their publisher “Sun Microsystems, Inc. (unverified publisher)”. This is the preferred browser for launching Lighthouse Trader on Windows platforms. The launch process is fully automated for users of Internet Explorer. If necessary, the correct version of the Java Runtime Environment will be installed on the PC. Lighthouse Trader will start up automatically when all necessary files have been downloaded and installed. After Lighthouse Trader has been loaded onto your PC there may be a pause of 10-15 seconds before the application starts up. This is normal. This is the preferred browser for launching Lighthouse Trader on all non-Windows platforms. If the required version of the Java Runtime Environment (aka J2SE) is not already installed on your PC, Firefox will open a window (or a new tab in the browser) showing the URL http://java.com You should see a large “Begin Download” button in the middle of the screen. Click this button to install Java on your PC. Depending on your security settings, Firefox may inform you that it has prevented java.com from asking you to install software on your computer. Please click the “Edit Options” button and then click the “Allow” button to permit java.com to install Java on your PC. You will need to click the “Begin Download” button once more to resume the install process. After Java has been installed, you will see a popup window with the title “Opening lighthousetrader.jnlp”. The drop down list box should show “Java™ WebStart Launcher”. Please click the “Open with” radio button, and then click OK. At this point, Lighthouse Trader will automatically be downloaded, installed, and started-up. If you experience difficulty launching Lighthouse Trader with your browser, and you cannot use one of the preferred browsers mentioned above, please follow these manual steps to install and launch Lighthouse Trader on your PC. |
